Short Paragraph on Freshwater Ecosystem

Fresh water ecosystem can be divided into ecosystems that include running water and ecosystems that include stagnant or static water (the technical term for this is lotic water).

1. Rivers and streams (freshwater ecosystems with running water): Rivers and streams can be thought of as a distinct and dynamic type of ecosystem. Between the banks of the river, all kinds of animals make their home. Crustaceans such as crayfish may live on the river bed whilst some organisms may use the river to migrate – the annual salmon migration in parts of the world such as Canada is a key example of this.

2. Stagnant freshwater ecosystems: There are many examples of lotic ecosystems out there in the world. Ponds, lakes, fresh water pools and fresh water bogs are all good examples of these.
