We wanted to have a peaceful vacation amidst hills and the best of nature. Moreover, the two of us have been wanting to have an experience of a houseboat, hence we decided upon Kerala. Kerala’s Weather In November

We are happy that we took the decision to visit Kerala in November because we absolutely loved the weather during our trip. A few days before our trip it was raining in Kerala and we were worried that it would rain during our trip too and we would not be able to step out. But thankfully it did not happen. In fact, Munnar is November was absolutely romantic. It was a bit sunny with cold breeze and nights and early morning would have a nip in the air,

During this trip to Kerala, we visited a lot of places and had a lot of amazing experiences.

1. Munnar

During our days in Munnar, we really enjoyed our day visiting the Kundala Lake and Dam which is situated amidst the jungle. We also made way to Munnar tea gardens and saw the tea museum and factory. It was amazing to see the whole process of picking and manufacturing tea. Another great place that we visited was the botanical garden which was full of some lovely flowers.

2. Thekkady

While on our way to Thekkady we stopped at Thekkady Spice Garden and learned all about the different spices. Thekkady gave us some experiences that we will never forget. We went to see the Kathakali show and Kalaripayattu show which was a lifetime experience. And we cannot forget to mention the amazing ayurvedic body massage that we had here. It was relaxing and rejuvenating for our mind, body, and soul.

3. Alleppey

No experience can top the one we had in Alleppey in the houseboat. It was so romantic staying in a houseboat witnessing a beautiful sunrise and sunset in a lovely company. Our dream of coming to Kerala and staying in a houseboat came true and it was surreal.

4. Cochin

Even though we reached Cochin on the last day of the trip, we did manage to see check-out places like Fort Kochi beach which was really very beautiful. We also spent some time exploring Kochi lighthouse, mangroves, and backwater.

Our Hotels In Kerala

During our 5 days in Kerala, we stayed in 2 resorts and a houseboat and here’s how our experience was.

1. 7 Springs Resort, Munnar

It was a good stay here. The rooms were nice and tidy. Our check-in process was smooth and we did enjoy our time.

2. Periyar Nest Resort, Thekkady

This was a good hotel with comfortable rooms. The staff was very helpful and they made our stay memorable.

How To Reach Cochin From New Delhi

We took a flight from Delhi to Cochin in order to reach Kerala for our trip. It was a comfortable flight.

Our Budget For The Kerala Trip

The overall personal expense for the two of us was around INR 15000 and including food, shopping, and tickets to adventure parks.

Shopping In Kerala

There are a lot of things to buy from Kerala hence the shopping experience was good. We bought a lot of handmade chocolates, different varieties of tea, wooden handicrafts like traditional statues of the native dance form, houseboat and elephant miniatures. We also purchased a whole lot of ayurvedic products and a lot of spices.

Restaurants In Kerala

It was a little difficult for us to look for good restaurants to try local Kerala food because we are pure vegetarians and mostly all the restaurants that we visited served non- vegetarian and the variety in vegetarian wasn’t much. We anyhow managed to get good veg food in Munnar and Thekaddy.

What To Pack For Kerala Trip

  • Carry woolens especially if going during the winter season.
  • Pack comfortable shoes as you would be walking around a lot
  • Sunscreen is also a must
  • Pack light snacks to munch on
  • Your first aid in case of emergency

Kerala Travel Tips

  • If you are planning to visit a temple, dress conservatively
  • Carry a water bottle with you at all times
  • Be careful on the beaches, The waves are rough and choppy
  • If you want to go around, public transports are your best bet as they are the cheapest
