Short Paragraph on Ram Navami (Hindu Festival)

Introduction: The Hindu Festival, Ram Navami, is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Rama (also Sri Ram Chandra). People worship and sing songs to please these deities.

Importance: It is an important day for worshipping Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lakshmana and Hunuman.

It is believed that Lord Vishnu incarnated on this earth as Rama, son of Raja Dasaratha. Dasaratha was the king of Ayodhya.

Rama came to this earth to save man from the cruelty of Ravana. Ravana, the demon king, is a symbol of unrighteousness, cruelty and evil. The reign of Lord Rama (Ram Rajya) was marked with righteousness, peace and prosperity.

Time (month): The ninth day of Chaitra month in Hindu calendar is observed as Ram Navami. It generally falls in the month of February or March.

Celebration: The birthday of Lord Rama is celebrated on the day of Ram Navami. At some places, the festival of Ram Navami is celebrated for nine days.

Devotees of Lord Rama sing devotional songs, bhajans and kirtans in praise of their Lord. The worship of Rama is followed by distribution of sacred food, sweets, and prasads.
