After many rounds of discussion, all of us came to a consensus that Kerala is the best place for us to go on a relaxing vacation. I was given the responsibility of organizing the entire process of selecting a package and booking it.

Last year, one of my friends took a trip to Manali via TravelTriangle and he really liked the services offered. He advised me to go on their website for a customized group trip to Kerala. Thankfully, after approaching TravelTriangle, my job was made easier as they handled the specifications of the group trip very nicely.

After receiving multiple quotes, I selected the most economical package given to us ‘Tour Club International’ agency. All of us friends were very thrilled for a memorable reunion that was about to happen in the magical paradise of Kerala.

Monsoon In Kerala: Explore The Coastal Gem Like Never Before!

First up, my family and I took a train from Madgaon to Kochi. We arrived at the railway station at 11 am where all of us came together to begin our journey. We boarded a bus, provided by Tour Club International agency, that took us to Munnar.

As it was a foggy day, it took us a bit longer than usual to reach Munnar. However, we did not mind this delay as it allowed us to get to mingle with the other people in the group. We finally reached at Green Trees Resort at 8 pm. After checking in, we had dinner and called it a night to a tiring day of travel.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Munnar

Post breakfast, all of us got ready for local sightseeing at 9 am. Our sightseeing began with a visit to the Rose Garden and Munnar Tea plantations. Seeing the lush green hills filled with tea plants was an iconic sight for our trip to Kerala.

After lunch, we visited the Eravikulam National Park where we witnessed beautiful views of the Western Ghats in Idukki. The children had a great time, as the park provided ample space for them to play and explore.

Later on, we finished our sightseeing tour and returned to the hotel at 7 pm. The nights in Munnar were chilly, as we had to use our sweaters for the night time. We had dinner at the resort with our friends and returned to our rooms to rest for the night.

Day 3: Jungle boat cruise in Periyar

The next day, we checked out of Munnar and traveled to Thekkady via bus. We checked into the Silver Crest Hotel at 2 pm, and immediately headed out for a safari boat cruise in the Periyar lake. It was an intriguing experience for all of us to have a jungle safari on a boat.

We navigated towards various sides of the lake, and saw many wild animals like the Sambar Deer, and Indian Bison. Unfortunately, we couldn’t spot a tiger but the experience was adventurous nonetheless. After the boat safari, we returned to the hotel at 8 pm for the night.

Day 4: Houseboat in Alleppey

After having a delicious breakfast, we checked out and headed towards Alleppey. On the way, we made a short stop in Kochi for some souvenir shopping. My wife and I bought some beautiful souvenirs for our family.

Later on, we reached Alleppey and checked into the three houseboats we had booked for all the families. As we arrived, they served us Kerala style lunch on the boat, meanwhile taking us for a three hour sunset cruise around the backwaters of Kerala.

Everyone enjoyed a special experience of staying in the houseboat. One of the boats had a big dining hall on its upper deck, where we had a nice time playing musical chairs, and chatting with everyone in the evening.

A special mention to the staff on the boat, who were very helpful and welcoming. The cook prepared some delicious meals for us during our stay.

Day 5&6: Exploring Kochi and heading back home

In the morning, we went for an hour long ride along the same backwater routes to enjoy the morning freshness of Alleppey. Later on, we checked out from the boat at 10 am to head for Kochi.

On the way, we visited the famous Athirappilly falls. The waterfalls were pristine, as we took a bath in the falls and enjoyed the picturesque scenery. After visiting the waterfall we reached at the Cochin Palace Hotel at 7 pm. In the evening, we didn’t do much except having dinner, as the next morning we had to check out for our departure back home.

sightseeing in Kochi

On the final morning, we checked out of the hotel at 10 am and decided to go for sightseeing. As our train didn’t leave until late night, we had a few hours to kill which we utilized by visiting the Jewish Synagogue, fishing nets, Lulu Mall, and Dutch Palace for sightseeing.

Out of all these places, we loved visiting Lulu mall because it was a great shopping complex. After the shopping got over, all of us headed to the Kochi railway station for our journey back home.

This trip to Kerala was a great experience for my friends and family, as we together witnessed why the world is so attracted to Kerala as a tourist destination. The beauty of the places, and the simplicity of the people is what stood out for me in making Kerala a heavenly destination.
