There are mainly two entrances to the park, Sauraha in the east and Meghauli in the west region of the park.

From Uttar Pradesh, India

If you’re going to this place from India, the nearest city is Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. You can board an air-conditioned bus at the Gorakhpur Bus Station,traveling on alternate days from Varanasi to Kathmandu which will take approximately 6-7 hours to reach.

Travel Tip: A reservation in advance is highly recommended for this route.

From Kathmandu

If you’re coming from Kathmandu, the nearest airport to this place (10 kms away) is Bharatpur Airport and you can easily get a cab from the airport. Flight fares may start from 11,000 Nepalese Rupee (INR 7000 Approx.)

Travel Tip: Try bargaining hard as the cab fares might be high depending upon various factors like fuel strikes etc.

You can also board a bus from Kathmandu to visit Chitwan National Park. The bus leaves just outside Thamel along Kantipath Road and charges may vary. To reach early, you have to start at 07:00 in the morning from Kathmandu.

From international flight guidelines to travel restrictions, and from the latest SOPs to updated information, here are some of the key guidelines issued by the Government of India.

In these unpredictable times of travel, there are many questions that most of us are asking when it comes to international travel and how a vacation abroad will look like in 2021. Whether it’s about the lockdown restrictions for Indian travellers, how to pack for a family trip abroad, or which countries are now allowing Indian travellers to visit, we’re dedicated to reporting the most updated guidelines. International Flight Guidelines for Arrivals: Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The following set of Standard Operating Procedure will be valid from 22nd February 2021 (23.59 Hrs IST) and will supersede any previous guidelines addressing the same concerns. Please note that the below guidelines are directly quoted from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare websites.

For all international travellers except those coming through flights originating from the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East

Planning for Travel

  • All travellers should: (i) submit a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha website before the scheduled travel; (ii) upload a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report. This test should have been conducted within 72 hrs prior to undertaking the journey.
  • Each passenger shall also submit a declaration with respect to the authenticity of the report and will be liable for criminal prosecution.
  • They should also give an undertaking on the portal or otherwise to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, through concerned airlines before they are allowed to undertake the journey that they would abide by the decision of the appropriate government authority to undergo home quarantine/ self-monitoring of their health for 14 days, or as warranted.
  • Arrival in India without a negative report shall be allowed only for those travelling to India in the exigency of death in the

If they wish to seek such exemption under para (iii) above, they shall apply to the online portal at least 72 hours before boarding. The decision taken by the government as communicated on the online portal will be the final one.

Before Boarding

  • Do’s and Don’ts shall be provided along with a ticket to the travellers by the airlines/agencies concerned.
  • Airlines to allow boarding only those passengers who have filled in the Self Declaration Form on the Air Suvidha portal and uploaded the negative RT-PCR test.
  • At the time of boarding the flight, only asymptomatic travellers will be allowed to board after the thermal screening.
  • All passengers shall be advised to download the Aarogya Setu app on their mobile. Suitable precautionary measures such as environmental sanitation and disinfection shall be ensured.

On Arrival

  • Thermal screening would be carried out in respect of all the passengers by the health officials present at the airport. The self-declaration form filled online shall be shown to the airport health
  • The passengers found to be symptomatic during screening shall be immediately isolated and taken to a medical facility.
  • They will be prioritized for sample collection in the designated area, samples collected and permitted to exit the airport. They shall monitor their health for 14 days (subject to negative test report of the sample taken at the Airport that would be conveyed to such travellers by the concerned State authorities/airport operators).
  • All other passengers who have uploaded RT-PCR negative certificates on the Air Suvidha portal shall be allowed to leave the airport/to take transit flights and will be required to undertake self-monitoring of their health.
  • All such passengers will also be provided with the list of the National and State level surveillance officers and the respective call centre numbers, so as to inform State/National Call Centres in case they develop symptoms at any time during the quarantine or self-monitoring of their health.

International travellers arriving at seaports/land ports

International travellers arriving through seaports/land ports will also have to undergo the same protocol as above, except that facility for online registration is not available for such passengers. Such travellers shall submit the self-declaration form to the concerned authorities of the Government of India at seaports/land ports.
