Their Family Vacation In Jim Corbett Was An All-Round Adventure!

Maintaining a perfect mix of adventure, nature, and luxury was the key to Madan’s 3 nights/4 days family vacation in Jim Corbett. What made their exploits truly incredible was the fact that they went for a jungle safari, enjoyed lake-side views, explored caves, waterfalls, and visited numerous temples.

I’ve always felt that to plan a perfect family vacation is very challenging. Since my children are fond of animals, I thought a family vacation in Jim Corbett would be the best possible vacation for them and all of us. Also, since Nainital was on our bucket list for quite a while, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to hit two birds with one stone.

Details of our family vacation in Jim Corbett

Trip Cost: INR 31,000

Trip Duration: 3 nights 4 days

Agent Name: Travel House Solution

Inclusions: Private transfers from Delhi, meals (excluding lunch), sightseeing, and jungle safari

Exclusions: Lunch, additional expenses (if any)

After searching for Jim Corbett family tour packages on the internet, I landed on the TravelTriangle website. Their prices were decent, the itinerary was flexible, and the reviews of the people who had been to Jim Corbett were great.

Day 1: Started off at mesmerizing Bhimtal Lake

We started our trip with a cab ride from Delhi at 7 am and reached Bhimtal at 2 pm. Upon arrival, we checked into the Hotel Royal Rosette in Bhimtal. Next up, we wandered out for a walk and went to see the Bhimtal Lake. Over there, my children really wanted to go for horse riding- to which I obliged as we went for a ride around Bhimtal Lake.

We didn’t do much in the evening as we were tired from our morning journey. We returned to our hotel where we spent the evening relaxing. We enjoyed our stay in Bhimtal as the food was delicious, rooms were comfortable, and our accommodation was at a walking distance from the lake.

Day 2: Sights and sounds of Nainital

The next day of our family vacation in Jim Corbett began with a delicious breakfast followed by local sightseeing in Nainital. Overall it was an adventurous afternoon as we visited places like Naini Devi Temple, Eco Garden Caves, and Corbett falls. We ended our sightseeing at Mall Road where we did some shopping. It was indeed a very handy place to shop for winter clothes and souvenirs.

We ended our evening with dinner at Mall Road and then eventually traveled back to Bhimtal for our overnight stay.

Day 3&4: Luxury and adventure in abundance at Jim Corbett

The next morning, we checked out from Bhimtal and transferred to Jim Corbett. Over there, we checked into the Gajraj Trails Resort. Our accommodation in Jim Corbett was a luxurious accommodation located on the outskirts of Jim Corbett National Park.

We spent our afternoon chilling out in the resort, spending some time in the pool, and playing some games with the premises of our accommodation. Later that night, we had dinner and slept early in preparation for our next day’s safari.

The next morning, we woke up early and got ready for our jungle safari by 6 am. We were accompanied by a driver and a guide who kept us engrossed in their tales of working in Jim Corbett as a forest ranger. Unfortunately, we couldn’t spot a tiger on our jungle safari but the overall experience amongst the flora and fauna was great.

Afterwards, we returned to the resort to have breakfast and check out for our return journey to New Delhi.

I was pleasantly surprised how smoothly our family vacation in Jim Corbett went by. Generally, no trip is complete without at least one hitch in the plans. But thanks to TravelTriangle, we followed the itinerary to the T and enjoyed some much-valued family time. I guess at the end of the day, what’s more important was the fact that all of us got together, enjoyed our very own interests and made some wonderful memories together.

High point:

  • Albeit sans the tiger spotting, the jungle safari was an experience we enjoyed the most.

Low point:

  • As we had some free time for sightseeing, TravelTriangle could have recommended some places on their own because they have experience in handling this destination.
  • Tips for people on a family vacation in Jim Corbett:
  • Book a good resort where you have a lot of activities within the resort like swimming pool, spa, gym etc.
  • When staying overnight at places like Bhimtal and Nainital, make sure the hotel you book is just a short walk from the lake and the Mall Road. It will give you more time to enjoy as you don’t have to worry about transportation.

Living It Up With Mother On A Shimla Family Getaway

My mom and I wanted to go for a relaxing getaway to a hill station and Shimla was the top destination on my bucket list. We had already booked our train tickets, so we were left with booking our hotel, transfer, and sightseeing, which TravelTriangle helped us with.

The booking process was very systematic and smooth. We received quite a few quotations from different travel agents, which we could choose from. The agents knew their business and professional and gave us quite a great deal on our Shimla family getaway package. Here is the package which we finally took:

  • Cost: INR 20,000/-
  • Duration: 3 Nights and 4 Days
  • Inclusions: Hotel, Transfer, Breakfast, Dinner, and Sightseeing
  • Exclusions: Lunch and personal expenses

Day 1: Starting the journey on a spiritual note

We reached Kalka at 12:00 pm; the driver met us at the Himachal Toll Plaza from where our journey began. It was a 3-hour long journey from Kalka to Shimla. On our way, we visited two famous temples that were on our route. One was Tara Devi temple, which is located on the Tara Devi hill from where we got a splendid view of the city. The other was Sankat Mochan Temple, which was devoted to Lord Hanuman that was just a few kilometers away from Shimla. We reached the hotel at 6 pm and rested for the rest of the day.

On the second day of our Shimla family getaway, we went for local sightseeing. Our first stop was the Summer Hill station from where we took a short ride until Jutogh (the next stop) just to experience the joy ride. Then from there, we went to see Chadwick falls but since the condition of the road was not good, we were not able to see the fall. From there we went to see the Scottish beauty, the Vice Regal Lodge. Just next to Vice Regal, lies a small yet beautiful Himalayan Bird Park where we saw a number of Himalayan birds. We left for Jakhoo Temple next which is one of the most popular attractions in town.

After our spiritual ride, our driver dropped us at the Auckland Bridge from where we took the staircase to the mall road. We visited the Church, Kali Bari, Wax Museum, Scandal point and finally filling our stomach with good food at café Sol. It was a wonderful day touring the city.

Day 3: Visiting the neighbors – Kufri and Chail

family trip kufri

After touring the city, it was time to pay a visit to the neighbors. We left early that day to avoid rush-hour traffic. Our first stop was Kufri, where we took a pony ride to reach the top. First, we went to the telescope area, where they showed us the 10 main attractions of Kufri. Then we took a cab to the Kufri adventure park where I did many activities like Zip lining, net climbing, Burma bride and much more. We also went to see the famous apple gardens of Kufri. Then we headed back to the checkpoint from where we visited the Mahasu Nag temple that is located at the Mahasu peak.

All tired and drenched, we left for Chail. Chail was a lot calmer than Kufri. Our first stoppage was at the Chail Palace. The place was grand and beautiful. From doors to furniture, everything was so royal. We stopped by the restaurant for some tea and then we left for the world’s highest cricket ground. From there we went to Kali Tibba, which is located at the highest peak in Chail. We were completely stunned by the beauty of the white marble temple. The day ended with a beautiful sunset and we headed back to our resort.

Things To Do On A 6 Nights 7 Days Luxury Honeymoon Trip To Bali

He wanted an utterly exotic location for his honeymoon, and what better than Bali that! So, after thorough research and customisations, Pankaj booked himself and his wife a luxury-loaded 6 nights 7 days honeymoon trip to Bali for their fairytale romance in the Island of Gods!

Agent Name: Galaxy Travels

Inclusions: Flights, Accommodation, Breakfast, Transfers (Airport & Local)

Juggling between our destination options for the kind of honeymoon experience we wanted, we finally decided upon Bali for all that it was promising.

The trouble we now faced was – booking a honeymoon package within our budget that also allowed us to relish the many luxuries this tropical paradise offered. Yup, budget and luxury at the same time! But don’t worry, we didn’t have to look very far. As soon as we typed ‘budget Bali honeymoon packages’ in Google and TravelTriangle came up as the very first option, we knew we were on the right track. Even Google seemed to know what we wanted!

We created a trip request on their website and Voila! We were receiving calls from different travel agents within a few hours where the promises of each appeared better than the others. After careful speculation, we closed the deal with Galaxy Travels who helped us make the required customisations at ease. Soon, we were joyously packing away for our adventure in an entirely different land!

Day 2: Romantic Poolside Dinner

Post a hearty breakfast in the morning, we proceeded for our Kintamani tour, that provided us with a deep insight into Bali’s natural, cultural, and artistic aspects. In the artisan villages of Celuk, Mas, and Ubud, we learned about Balinese gold and silver jewelry, wood carvings, and art paintings, apart from buying ourselves some knick-knacks of the same. We drove past rural villages watching Balinese people dressed up in queer Balinese clothes and going about their day-to-day activities. We saw vast areas of beautifully terraced rice fields in Tegallalang after which we proceeded to the coffee plantations where we witnessed the entire process of coffee making.

The mountain of Kintamani seemed to simply wash away all our worries. The cool breeze was more of an energy that soothed our senses. We gazed at the breathtaking vistas of the still-active Mount Batur and its crater-lake for some time, while the sky painted beautiful hues on the horizon. While returning to the hotel, we stopped by traditional Balinese house to admire its unique building layout honouring the Tri Hita Karana – the three Balinese basic principles of living in harmony with the environment.

True to its word, it delivered more than it had promised!

Incredible Things To Do On A Family Trip To Sri Lanka For A Wowsome Experience!

Since travel symbolises long drives, family time, and savoring regional cuisines to me, Sri Lanka was one place that had been on my bucket list for a long time. So, when my youngest son was planning a short visit back to India from Canada, I started researching a little to make our family trip an unforgettable affair!

While I was looking for a good holiday deal online, I landed up on TravelTriangle’s website. I looked up and compared the packages that included the things to do on a family trip to Sri Lanka with the map of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Tourism’s website along with popular travel agent’s packages and recommendations from friends.

family in sri lanka

Our family of four did not want to visit the typical touristy places as my kids were grown up men of age 27 and 25, and we were in our mid 50’s, so we just wanted to put our feet up. And because of this, I ultimately finalized two places – Nuwara Eliya and Hikkaduwa. To book a trip for the same, I filled up the form on the website and immediately received a call for the same. Everything from the booking process to the trip planning was super smooth, and I was assisted by the travel consultant throughout this time.

Trip Type: 5 Days 4 Nights family trip

Cost: INR Rs. 16,603 per person from Look Lanka Tours

Inclusions: All the accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, transfers from and to the airport, sightseeing, city tour, free sim card on arrival with top up, GST, and transport tax.

Exclusions: Airfare and Visa, entry fees, lunch and dinner, any personal expenses, and anything not mentioned in inclusions.

Top things to do on a family trip to Sri Lanka, which we happily indulged in!

The flight was at an unearthly hour of 3:15 AM from the Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore and soon after boarding, we realized that the Sri Lankan Airways was taxiing down the runway at Colombo in no time. After getting our passports stamped in a jiffy, we walked through the airport and stopped at the Airtel shop where my sons got themselves Sim cards with data package while I waited for the free Sim that was included in the travel package.

Soon after we were picked up by our driver who was a pleasant guy and kept smiling as he led us to the spacious black van, which was the car we had to commute in for the whole of our trip. We proceeded to Nuwara Eliya, which is situated on the hills in central Sri Lanka via Pinnawala, which is an elephant orphanage in Kandy.

We stopped for breakfast after taking a little nap, and I must say the food was amazing. On our way to the first destination, we stopped and visited Pinnawala, where witnessing the elephants bathing near the river was a majestic sight. There is no doubt that the place has a lot in store, especially for the eco-friendly travelers!

After a scrumptious lunch, we resumed the journey and reached Nuwara Eliya in another hour. A short steep climb helped us in reaching our home – the Lake View Comfort Bungalow for the next two nights. The view from the hotel was wonderful as it overlooked the lake where we could see all sorts of activities like speed boating, boating, paddle boating, and more. But soon the weather turned for the worse and it rained incessantly and was foggy for the next two days.

evening in sri lanka

As we had reached late, we decided to have a couple of drinks and watch the India – Sri Lanka match that was being played in Kandy. With blankets wrapped around us, rain lashing at the windows, some chicken and rice, it became a perfect first night in this far away land.

On day two of our trip, I had fallen a little sick so I asked my family to visit the Strawberry farm without me. They got some medicines for me, and this time we requested the hotel staff if we could cook something for ourselves. We made some chicken and mildly spiced veggies for dinner, which was relished by all.

The next morning, I felt a little better and as soon as we had our breakfast, we left for our next destination, i.e. Hikkaduwa.

Day 3 – Whitewater rafting in Kitulgala and enroute Hikkaduwa

sightseeing tour in sri lanka

Of the many things to do on a family trip to Sri Lanka, whitewater rafting in the Kelani Ganga River in Kitulgala was one experience we were too excited for. On our way to Hikkaduwa, we stopped for this little adventure followed by a freshly cooked lunch.

We stopped at a traditional Siddha medicine shop, Susantha Spice, and Herbal Garden in Mawanella where we were greeted by a multilingual medical guide who walked along the walkways lined with trees with various fruits, berries, and had small sample bottles of oils. We were encouraged to smell, taste, and apply them as we went along. At the end, we were seated in a hut and a free massage was provided.

things to do in sri lanka

Post this, we proceeded to Avissawella and onto the Expressway E01 to reach our destination. One thing I really liked about the place was the calm and discipline driving in Sri Lanka. The Coral Sands Hotel was the our accommodation for the next few days, and I must say it was a lovely property located on the edge of the sea with a huge pool.

Jumping into the pool and lazing around as we soaked up the setting sun were a few things we did together after checking into the hotel. For lunch, we looked up for popular local eateries and decided to visit The Tigri Restaurant – a seafood place by the beach, which was only a short walk away from the hotel.

Day 4 – Glass bottom boat ride and witnessing moonstone mining in Hikkaduwa

In the morning, all of us savored a breakfast buffet that we had to hurriedly consume as a lot of outing was planned for the day. The first stop was the nearby beach for witnessing some coral reefs in a glass bottom boat ride. The next were scuba and snorkeling, which we sadly had to miss since the tides at that time were rough.

On this day, we also got ourselves a new hybrid car in which we went to see some moonstone mining. The place seemed set up for the tourists as one person would show sand being drawn up the mine shaft, while another would respond to the hello on the communication chute, while in another area two men were polishing stone and joining chains. We were then ushered into an air-conditioned showroom where we were shown stones of different sizes and colours. One particular set in blue sapphire that I liked a lot was priced at $2500 and it blew my mind away.

Later, we stopped in Ambalangoda to buy a bag for the extra purchases that we had done, and then headed towards the water sports club on the lakefront as we wanted to indulge in a few more water sports before we returned back home. Here, my eldest son tried water skiing while we waited and watched him enjoy the thrill.

It was hard to bid farewell to such a good holiday, but we knew this had to end. So, we made sure we had enough memories captured to bring back home as souvenirs.

High Points Of Our Trip

  • Visiting the Strawberry Farm
  • Witnessing the scenic beauty
  • Indulging in white water rafting and water skiing
  • Peaceful long drives

Low Point Of Our Trip

The restaurants recommended online on Google were not so impressive, and we only wished later that we should have rather done a bit more research.

Tips For Future Travelers

  • If possible, plan a longer trip and make multiple visits for sightseeing.
  • Beware of the marketing gimmicks of the local shops or stores.
  • Do check the weather once before planning your trip, and customize your itinerary accordingly.
  • Make sure you eat right on the trip as bad health can really spoil the day and experience.

Overall, it was a satisfying and an overwhelming experience. By indulging in just the perfect things to do on a family trip to Sri Lanka as advised by TravelTriangle and our agent Look Lanka Tours, our holiday became a kick-ass adventure that we will cherish for lifelong!
