Picturesque Places To Visit On A Friends Trip To Coorg

Shruti and her family experienced the magic of offbeat on a fun trip to Coorg. They relaxed, rejuvenated, and refreshed their senses on their most wonderful hilly trip ever!

My husband and I are avid travelers who love to visit unexplored places. We had read a lot of good stuff about the monsoon in Kerala and wanted to experience the same. However, instead of planning for a trip to the popular places to visit in Kerala, we decided to visit destinations which are the least crowded. We wanted to avoid sightseeing as much as possible, so we could relax and spend time with our family and friends. A trip to Coorg ticked all the boxes for our specific vacation requirements.

While searching for tour packages, I got to know about TravelTriangle via Google search. I had submitted my number and query on various travel portals, but TravelTriangle was the quickest to respond and connect with me immediately.

Another thing that I liked about TravelTriangle was, that they were proactive enough to give me multiple itineraries to select from. Their pro-activeness saved me a lot of time while I was still engrossed in my busy work schedule and trying to get the package booked with them at the same time.

Trip Duration: 5 nights/6 days

Trip Cost: INR 70,500

Agent Name: Carlo Travels

Inclusions: Transfers, accommodation, breakfast, sightseeing, jeep safari, and taxes

Exclusions: Airfare, and meals

Day 1: Flying in for our trip to Coorg

We took a flight from Delhi and reached Bengaluru at 9 am. The cab driver assigned to us was present to receive us before we had exited the airport. We took our own sweet time in reaching Coorg by stopping at multiple places in between for food and sightseeing.

One of those stops was at the beautiful Dubare Elephant Camp. A sanctuary for at-risk elephants, Dubare was the most charming place we visited on our trip to Coorg. The children, in particular, enjoyed the short visit to the sanctuary as we met and played around with friendly elephants.

Later on, we resumed our journey to Coorg and reached the Leisure Vacations Brook Stone Villa at 7 pm. After checking in, we had dinner at the resort and then returned to our rooms for the night.

Day 2: Captivating Sightseeing in Coorg

This day, we woke up fully recharged for a day of sightseeing in Coorg. But before that, we had a quick breakfast and boarded the cab for a visit to the Abbey Falls. We wanted to visit a waterfall where we could go for a dip, but unfortunately, that wasn’t allowed over there.

Next up, we stopped by at the Raja’s seat- the best spot for sightseeing in Coorg. Over there, we enjoyed the magnificent view of the valley, and the kids had fun on the swings. Post lunch, we paid a visit to the divine Omkareshwara Temple. It felt nice to end a pleasant day on our trip to Coorg by taking blessings from Lord Shiva.

Afterward, we returned to the hotel at 7 pm and relaxed at the resort. A nice evening spent chit chatting with our friends while enjoying the evening weather.

Day 3: Driving from Coorg to Wayanad

The next day, I woke up early and wandered out for an early morning walk. The resort in Coorg was wonderful, scenic, and located at a secluded location. The rooms were surrounded by Guava trees giving an organic and natural feel to our stay in Coorg.

After a late breakfast, we checked out of the resort at noon and began our journey to Wayanad. In the evening, we checked into our beautiful private cottage at Wayanad Ranches. Although our resort was perfect, we would’ve have preferred accommodation closer to Kalpetta (where all the major sightseeing in Wayanad is done).

Day 4: Natural and pristine places for Sightseeing in Wayanad

Post breakfast, we began exploring places to visit around Wayanad. First up, we saw the Banasura Dam and followed it by going for boating at Pookode Lake- a picturesque freshwater lake surrounded by forest on all sides.

Post lunch, we visited the fascinating Edakkal Caves and Wayanad Heritage Museum. After the sightseeing tour finished, we returned to the resort at 7 pm. We were tired after visiting all the incredible places, therefore, we had dinner and immediately after that called it a night.

Day 5: A refreshing day at the Soochipara Waterfalls

This day, we checked out of Wayanad and proceeded to Bandipur National Park-the final stop on our trip to Coorg.

On our way, we stopped by at the gorgeous Soochipara falls near Kalpetta. Over there, we could go for a dip in the waterfall and enjoy a bath with our kids. With the number of people that were present at Soochipara, we were surprised that it wasn’t a popular place for sightseeing in Wayanad.

In the evening, around 6 pm, we reached the MC Resort in Bandipur. As we had already missed the evening slot for the jungle safari, we had nothing much to do that evening except have dinner and relax for rest of the time.

Day 6: Jungle safari at Bandipur National Park

This day, we got up at 6 am for the morning jungle safari in the Bandipur National Park. An adventurous safari that provided us with the opportunity to see various animals like the Leopard, Sambar Deer, and Asian Elephant.

After the safari, we returned to the resort for breakfast and chilled for a while in the swimming pool. Later, we checked out of the resort at noon and headed towards Bengaluru for the 8 pm flight back to New Delhi.

My mind felt energized and my heart felt at peace after spending six days of quality time with the people who are closest and dearest to me.

The thing I liked about Coorg and Wayanad the most was that, the locals were not very tourist oriented. At many popular tourist spots around India, the life and the income of the locals depend on tourists and the peak tourist season. However, over here it was completely the opposite. The places were self-sustainable and didn’t change to meet the burgeoning demands of tourists.

High points:

  • With the green and fresh landscape, monsoon in Kerala was a treat for sore eyes.
  • Feeding elephants with our hands at Dubare elephant sanctuary was a special feeling.

Low point:

  • The resort booked for us was 45 mins from Kalpetta in Wayanad District (where all the sightseeing in Wayanad was scheduled).

What we missed out on:

  • We wanted to go for a Kerala massage in Wayanad, but missed out on it due to the package schedule/

Tip for travelers:

  • Request for a driver who will stay overnight at the same hotel or resort at yours. It saves a lot of time and money in case you wish to visit a place on an impromptu basis.

A Romantic Trip Relishing The Scenic Beauty Of Vietnam

Their love for travel and exploration led them to explore the beautiful landscape of Vietnam. On a 7 day romantic trip to Vietnam, Sohel and his wife witnessed the dynamic Vietnamese culture through their food, markets, landscape, and lovely people.

Exclusions: Lunch, and visa stamping fees,

My wife and I love to travel to an international destination every year. Last year we visited Thailand, and this time around, we wanted to visit Vietnam. We read a lot about the country, and seeing as it wasn’t too costly or commercialized, a trip to Vietnam felt like the best out of the options we had.

While searching for travel companies, a friend of ours recommended TravelTriangle, as he had traveled with them on a trip to Mauritius. He gave us positive reviews, which helped us quickly make our mind on where to look for a trip to Vietnam.

I normally prefer going on a trip to a certain destination for not more than 4-5 days, but this time we chose a 6 nights/7 days package to Vietnam. It was because my wife had identified this beautiful place, Nha Trang, after reading multiple blogs on the TravelTriangle website. I requested Praveen from TravelTriangle to include Nha Trang in our package. To which, he duly obliged, and prepared for us an enticing, value-for-money romantic trip to Vietnam.

Day 1: Arriving in Ho Chi Minh

We took a midnight flight from Hyderabad and arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at 2 pm. After that, a driver was present for a pickup and drop to the Lavender Hotel Central. The first day of our trip to Vietnam had nothing on the itinerary, which allowed us to relax and recover from our long and tiresome flight journey.

In the evening, we wandered out to the night market with a motive of tasting the famous Vietnamese Pho noodles. The local food was delicious, as it gave a familiar oriental taste with a refreshing aroma of herbs and spices. After dinner, we returned to the hotel and called it a night.

Day 2: Exploring the Cu Chi Tunnels

After breakfast, we went a half-day sightseeing tour to the famous Cu Chi tunnels. Barely a few hours from Ho Chi Minh, lay an amazing 200-km network of underground tunnels that was used during the Vietnam War.

After a guided tour of the tunnels, we were amazed to the see the level of sacrifice and hardship faced by the people of Vietnam to win a war against the US and its allies in Vietnam. Our adventurous tour ended in the afternoon and we returned to our hotel by 4 pm.

Cafes in Hanoi

In the evening, we checked out of the hotel for a flight to Hanoi. We arrived in Hanoi at 10 pm and checked into the Hanoi Focus Hotel for the night.

Day 3&4: A scenic Halong Bay Cruise

After breakfast, we checked out of Hanoi and transferred to Halong Bay for a two-day cruise tour. The cruise had couples from all around the world, which gave us a great opportunity to learn about different cultures. The weather in Halong Bay was pleasant and much better than in Ho Chi Minh.

Our cruise was a fun-filled experience that included snorkeling, cooking classes, and live performances. On our first day, we visited many beautiful islets in Halong Bay, where we could swim, snorkel, and kayak. The evening went by enjoying a barbeque dinner, live music, and conversations with other couples.

On the final day, we visited the biggest cave in Vietnam- Surprise Cave. The cruise was exceptionally well planned, as everything went as per schedule. The food served and service provided was impeccable, as the staff gave their full effort to make us feel at home during those two days on the ship.

We deboarded the cruise at 5 pm, and traveled back to Hanoi. After arriving, we checked in again at the Hanoi Focus Hotel. Our trip to Vietnam was so nicely planned by TravelTriangle, that they made sure our stay in Hanoi was on a weekend so that we could enjoy the amazing weekend night market.

After exploring the vibrant night market and having a tasty dinner, we returned to the hotel for the night.

Day 5: Flight to Nha Trang

The next morning, we had breakfast and checked out of the hotel for our flight to Nha Trang. We were supposed to fly out at 1 pm, but our flight got delayed by three hours. Our plans of exploring Nha Trang took a major hit as we arrived in Nha Trang at 6 pm and checked into the Maple Leaf Hotel.

The next morning, we departed for an Island tour in Nha Trang. First up, we visited the Mun Island where we enjoyed and sunbathed at the beautiful white-sand beach. Afterwards, we were provided lunch on the cruise which was a mixture of Vietnamese and Chinese food.

Post lunch, our cruise arrived at Mot Island. Yet another unexplored island within the shores of Vietnam where we could relax, and marvel at the beautiful coral reefs. Over here, the cruise staff gave us an hour extra for the people who wished to snorkel in the crystal clear waters.

Our cruise ended at 5 pm back at Nha Trang, from where we were transferred back to the hotel. In the evening, we went to an amazing eatery called Ganesh restaurant, that served delicious Indian food. A much needed Indian meal after six days provided us with a nostalgic end to our stay in Nha Trang.

The Vietnamese domestic flight system continued to surprise us, as our flight back to Ho Chi Minh was preponed by three hours. As a result, we had an early morning check out from Nha Trang and arrived in Ho Chi Minh by 10 am.

We kept our luggage at the airport in the cloak room, and explored Ho Chi Minh a little more as we still had seven hours for our flight back to India.

Vietnam was an amazing experience that broadened our horizon and understanding towards the culture in the Indochina region. In many ways, Vietnam is quite similar to India as the place is rich in culture and history. Through our love for travel and exploration, this trip to Vietnam gave us time to reconnect with each other on an emotional level.
