We boarded our flight to Maldives from Pune via Bangalore and finally reached at around early evening. We were given a very grand welcome at the airport and then taken to our ferry which took us to Holiday Inn resort, our home for next four days. While we were going, we got lucky as there was high tide, so we could see a number of fish jumping over the sea waters. This made me really excited for what was in store for us in the upcoming days.

After we reached our hotel, we were taken to our room, which was very beautifully decorated and made us feel really special. You know, these things matter a lot, how the staff treats you, how much effort they put in to make you feel happy. And these people really impressed us with the arrangements.

We freshened up and relaxed there for sometime before going for dinner. The dinner was fantastic and the staff took really good care of our food choices. As we were quite tired from traveling, we came back to our room and slept off early.

We had our snorkeling training session in the morning, so we got up early and had a quick breakfast. The breakfast was quite good and filling.

Tip:

One must have breakfast properly as snorkeling is a really exhaustive activity, so it’s important to have a hearty meal before proceeding for water activities.

The instructors were very professional and sweet and really made the effort of teaching us properly. Our snorkeling training session lasted for an hour and both me and my husband realized that we needed practice to perform better the next day. So we decided to have a quick lunch at the resort and went to practice in deep sea waters. That really strengthened our confidence in ourselves.

Later, it was time for clicking some gorgeous pictures. We decided to click photos in the beach as the weather was perfect for it. The pictures came out really nice in such a beautiful backdrop, comprising of the shining sun and crystal clear waters.

After we were done with the shoot, we roamed around for a while, exploring the gorgeous property consisting of infinity pools, serene beaches and lovely people. We befriended a couple who was also enjoying Maldives like us. We clicked one another’s pictures and chilled together till it was time for dinner. We had dinner around 9 pm and post that, came back to our room and called it a night.

We were to have our final snorkeling session. So we had a good breakfast and reached our starting point on time. We snorkeled for two hours and I really don’t know how the describe what I felt. Me and my husband saw various marine species including sea snakes. I was initially scared at first but in the end it turned out to be the best thrilling experience of my life.

Beautiful resort in Maldives

Post snorkeling, we just rested in our room for some hours as we were really tired. At night, we had buffet dinner at our hotel. The good part was, they have a well-laid Indian food section also and so made it easy for us vegetarians to appreciate the food.

Epic Ways To Enjoy A 7 Day 6 Night Family Trip To Goa

Abhinav and his family had the time of their lives in the beach capital of the country, Goa. It was a 7 Day trip which included hopping to the best beaches in Goa, spending quality time with loved ones and making infinite memories on the way. Read on to know about their awesome trip so even you can book a Goa family tour package and enjoy with your family.

‘Travel means a complete reset of mind and body. It’s unburdening the soul from the tedious everyday ritual and be able to breathe air of contentment and relaxation’.

This is what travel means to me. I have always loved traveling and sometimes it’s all I need. It was one such time, when me and my wife wanted to go somewhere, as we realized that life was getting very boring and mundane and the thought of ‘getting home, packing our bags and heading off somewhere’ started popping in our heads very frequently.

My brother-in-law and his wife also decided to join us. See, that’s the benefit of traveling; you get to make plans with people you love and you get a chance to catch up with them along with enjoying a beautiful place together.

Goa it is!

Once our group was finalized, we began discussing about the destination. We were sure that we wanted a holiday destination where we didn’t have to switch hotels too often and spend time in vehicle. We wanted to just sit and relax, talk and enjoy the beauty of the place. And Goa seemed a perfect fit. So without wasting time we began looking for decent Goa tour packages. We came across the package offered by TravelTriangle, a holiday marketplace offering customized deals at great prices. Without further delay, we booked a 7D 6N Goa family tour package and waited eagerly for the trip to begin.

Month of travel: February 2017

Inclusions: Transfers from airport to hotel, sightseeing including Baga, Calangute beach, Arpora market, and Grand Island tour

Exclusions: Flights, accommodation at Neelam’s The Grand and Resort Terra Paraiso, scooty hires and paid activities, if any.

Cost of the trip: INR 11,300

A warm welcome by the sandy beaches and the glazing sun

Soaking in Goa beaches

There was a delay in our flight from Delhi and we reached Goa by late afternoon. The taxi was waiting for us at the airport and we reached hotel Terra Paraiso in an hour. We were really excited so we did not relax at the hotel and instead quickly had some food and immediately left for the beach. We chose a good restaurant by the Calangute beach, which was nearest to the hotel, and sat there from late evening till midnight.

We had a lovely time, and we chilled there , catching up on each other’s life and discussing our work. We came back to our hotel after midnight and had dinner in the hotel itself. The dinner was quite nice and gave some relief to our hungry stomach.

All in all, the first day was all about relaxing and enjoying each other’s company by the seaside and below the millions of stars.

Time travel in the splendid Portuguese forts!

Travelers in Aguada fort

Day 2 was reserved for the forts of Goa. I love riding on two wheeler, so we decided to cover the forts on scooties, a very popular mode of transport in Goa. It is also one of the cheapest modes of transport; A scooty can be rented for Rs. 300-400 per day, excluding the petrol and other maintenance charges, if any. Although it was sunny, the breeze was cool and made the scooty rides to different places quite fun. The Goan roads are beautiful, surrounded by tall palm and coconut trees on both sides.

We first visited Aguada fort, situated in Sinquerim beach. The location of the fort is perfect, as it overlooks the vast Arabian sea , with the waters crashing in the fort walls, making a thundering sound every few seconds. One can just stay there and relax for sometime soaking in the beautiful view.

All that roaming around in daytime makes you really thirsty and tired. To quench our thirst, we resorted to the lemon sodas that were being sold outside the fort area. After that, we went to Chapora fort, a half an hour drive from Aguada fort. It is a very unique fort, and has become popular over the years as the ‘Dil chahta hai fort’. An iconic scene from the movie was shot here.

Tip:

Carry sunscreen and summer hats as it gets quite sunny in the afternoon .

Post our sightseeing, we went to see the sunset at the Vagator beach which was nearby. Vagator is one of the most serene and peaceful beaches, and is less crowded than Anjuna, Baga beach etc. We sat there for sometime, seeing waves make ripples at our feet and watched the day go by, slowly and calmly.

For dinner, we went back to our hotel, post which we retired to our rooms for sleep.

‘Grand Island’ not so grand

Female tourist in Goa beach

We had planned for the Grand Island trip this day. Our vehicle, which would take us to the island arrived on time and we left our hotel at around 8:30 am. Our boat, which took us to the island was quite comfortable, and our boatman was really helpful. We were served snacks and drinks on board and they were quite delicious.

Couple in Baga beach

The best part was swimming in the open ocean; before we reached the island we were given life jackets and were given the option of swimming in the open sea waters for sometime. All of us wanted to, so we did and it turned out to be a lot of fun.

Honestly, I now feel we should have stayed in the water for some more time ,because the grand island tour was farce. I pictured us going to a nice pretty island with lovely people around, but trust me it was nothing like that. It is a very small island with a lunch area and nothing else. The lunch was not that great too, so none of us really wanted to have it. The boat ride back to our beach was quite bumpy and at a point we got really scared. It was only after we reached back safely to our hotel that we heaved a sigh of relief.

We rested and thanked god for keeping us alive. Phew.

Hotel hopping

Beach fun in Goa

My brother-in-law’s family was going back today. We had to switch to a different hotel so all of us woke up quickly and left for Neelam’s The grand hotel immediately. It was a problematic experience shifting to the hotel as there was no ferry or car arranged for us to take our luggage. We had to eventually hire a scooty and take our luggage to the new hotel ourselves.

The hotel Neelam’s The grand is a really nice hotel in terms of ambiance. But it lacks quality in terms of overall management. The staff did not serve us welcome drinks on arrival, we had to remind them twice. Our water bottles in the room were not replaced on time. The hotel needs to focus of its hospitality services and take a lesson or two from other good hotels of Goa.

We just rested in our hotel room throughout the day as we did not feel like stepping out. In short, day 4 was all about relaxing in our new hotel.

Of Moonlit night and dancing waves

The next day was the same. We got up and had a good breakfast. The food was quite nice and the staff seemed friendlier. In the evening, we went to Calangute beach and roamed around for a while, trying cocktails at different shacks, playing in the sandy beach and by night, the scene changed from a lively atmosphere to a quiet, mellow one. The pale moonlight was glittering over the magnificent Arabian and it made the waves ripple, it was as if the waves were trying to reach out to the moon to say hello.

The entire scene was beautiful. I rarely get to see such a sight and I am sure I will remember that night for a long time.

Baga tales and shopping

Female tourist in Goa restaurant

This was our last full day in Goa as we had an early morning flight the next day. So we decided to visit Baga beach, one of the most popular beaches there. My wife and I enjoy swimming the most, so we went to the deep sea waters and swam to good two hours . Post that, we came back to our hotel and rested. At 6 in the evening we started for the Saturday Market at Arpora. It’s a magnificent market where one gets a variety of things ranging from souvenirs to old music CD’s . We shopped to our heart’s content as we hadn’t engage in shopping in a long time.

Later, we got back to our room and had dinner and slept off.

Next morning , we bid adieu to Goa and took our flight back to Delhi

Goa is a place where one should go for that much deserved and much needed sea therapy. This is one place which is a mix of various things: the friendly people from foreign lands welcome you and treat you as their own and the warm waters of the Arabian will make you never want to leave this place ever.

I had the time of my life with my better half and her family and I will cherish this Goan sojourn forever.

Highlights

  • The scooty rides to the the forts were amazing and the Goan roads are perfect for road drives
  • The Saturday market at Arpora is not to be missed

Low points

  • The hospitality of Neelam’s The Grand, was not upto the mark and needs to be improved upon
  • Grand island trip is so NOT worth a visit

Tips for future travelers

  • Visit the Anjuna flea market on Tuesday. Though we could not cover it, the locales have vouched for it as a great shopping experience
  • Carry sunscreen and lotion in beaches as you might get tanned easily

We decided to explore the scenic west coast of Australia in Sydney and Gold Coast, that would give us the best of all worlds in beaches, culture, food, nature, and adventure. Here are the activities we did, that made our honeymoon trip to Australia memorable:

Sydney: Beautiful monuments and a scenic harbor cruise

The first three nights of our honeymoon trip to Australia were spent in Sydney. We wanted to visit Sydney because of its various attractions, iconic monuments, and adventurous locations in its vicinity.

On the first day, we used our four attractions tour pass to visit the Sydney Aquarium, Sydney Zoo, and Observation point in the afternoon. We missed the Madame Tussauds wax museum because it’s entry closes at 5 pm.

At a cost of AUD $70 per adult, this is a great sightseeing tour that allows you access to few of the popular places to visit in Sydney.

  • Sydney sightseeing tour
sydney opera house

We boarded the city tour bus that departed at 9 am. We started by visiting the Opera House and Harbor Bridge. After visiting the iconic monument of Sydney, we got off at the scenic Bondi Beach and spent an hour there.

Cost: AUD $35 per person

  • Showboat dinner cruise

The cruise started at 6 pm. There were music shows and dinner on the boat. We were welcomed with had snacks and drinks. The cruise took us around the Opera House and Harbor Bridge. It was a great chance to click pictures, with the scenic monuments in the backdrop. The tour ended at 10 pm after dinner. This cruise is highly recommended for couples.

  • Blue mountains

We took a trip to the blue mountains on our final day in Sydney. The scenic mountains were a two-hour drive from Sydney. This day, the weather was very foggy and it rained as well. So after reaching the blue mountains, we couldn’t really see the three sister mountains due to the fog.

  • Jenolan caves
jenolan caves

An hour’s drive from Blue mountains were the Jenolan caves. Visiting the caves was a pretty good experience, as there was no effect of the fog and rain in the caves.

Hotel Review

Our stay at the Bayswater Sydney Hotel was good, but not great. The size of the room was a bit small, and the facilities could’ve been a bit better. All in all, the hotel was simple and compact. I’d prefer going for a better hotel next time on a trip to Australia

Useful travel tips for Sydney

  • There weren’t many options in Sydney for veg food. Breakfast was usually nachos and chips. Although, we found an indian restaurant for dinner, it is better to carry ready-to-eat vegetarian food.
  • When taking the four attractions tour, visit the madame tussauds first, as it’s entry closes at 5 pm.

Gold Coast: City of entertainment and serene beaches

We took an early morning flight to Gold Coast at 8 am and arrived at 9 am. Afterwards, we took a taxi to the Wyndham Surfers Paradise Hotel. We liked the whole vibe to Gold Coast, the place was very tourist friendly and lively.

Places we covered

  • Surfer’s Paradise beach

Since it was very hot in the afternoons, we used to stay in till the evening and then visit the surfer’s paradise beach around 5 pm every day. I found the surfer’s paradise beach more beautiful than Bondi Beach.

  • Moreton Island
snorkeling at moreton island

We decided to take a trip to Moreton Island. After traveling for two hours by car and then an hour by ship, we arrived at Moreton Island. The lunch was included on the tour but it was only non veg. After arriving we went on for snorkeling.

First we practised snorkeling for an hour in shallow water. Post lunch, we went for snorkeling into the sea. We saw some amazing creatures dolphins and turtles.

  • Dreamworld

On our third day in Gold Coast, we visited the Dreamworld theme park. We enjoyed the trained tiger show at the Tiger island, adrenaline pumping roller coasters, and thrilling park rides.

  • Whitewater World

In the latter half of our third day in Gold Coast, we visited the White Water World park. We spent a few hours enjoying the numerous innovative water rides.

  • Souvenir shopping on Surfer’s Paradise beach road

On our final evening, we went for a shopping spree on surfer’s paradise beach road. A long street that was filled with souvenirs shops designed keeping in mind tourists.

Hotel Review

Our stay at the Wyndham Surfers Paradise Hotel was very comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly, the facilities were excellent, and the location of the hotel was top notch. Surfers paradise beach was a two-minute walk from our room and, the hotel also had a rooftop pool which we thought was amazing.

Useful travel tips for Gold Coast

  • The best rides in Dreamworld park were Tower of Terror and Buzzsaw.
  • Moreton Island is good for a day trip for snorkeling. An overnight stay is not recommended.
  • Going by road won’t be recommended as the journey from Sydney to Gold Coast would take 10 hours by car.

We found a better connection and understand with each other on a beautiful journey that saw us cover some of the most serene places on the Australian west coast.

High points:

  • The nightlife at Gold Coast.
  • The showboat cruise in Sydney was very romantic.
  • The visit to the Jenolan caves was memorable.

Low points:

  • Moreton Island wasn’t very satisfactory. We used up a whole day for an hour of snorkeling.
  • Vegetarian food options in Sydney were very limited.

Tips for travelers:

  • Go for five-star hotels in Sydney because the three and four-star hotels in Sydney lack facilities to make your stay memorable.
  • Check the weather before traveling to Australia as it can vary between hot, cold, and rainy in the same season.
  • Plan your travels in Australia according to the check in times for your hotel. Prior to checking into a hotel, we had to wait for two or three hours in both Sydney and Gold Coast.

Places To Visit On A 10 Day Honeymoon Trip To New Zealand

My husband and I always wanted to visit New Zealand. It was one of those destinations that was rich in beauty, culture, and adventure.

Seeing its locations in movies like Harry Potter & Lord of the Rings had only further increased our longing for it so when decided to get married, New Zealand was an obvious choice for our honeymoon.

Having made up our mind on the destination, my husband and I now wanted the best New Zealand honeymoon package for ourselves. We wanted everything to be arranged as per our wishes and that is where TravelTriangle stepped in.

The New Zealand Experience

Auckland, you beauty!

Harsh and his wife arrive in Auckland

We landed in Auckland to a cool and absolutely gorgeous weather. At the airport exit, we met our driver from the agent’s side who transferred us to our hotel – Skycity Hotel Auckland. This was a nice property and was equipped with all the modern facilities.

Honeymoon couple in New Zealand

In the evening, we casually went out walking to explore the city on our own. The temperature was cool and the city even in the late evening was very active. This was also the time, we tasted the staple food of New Zealand – burgers (wow!) and they were yum. Lastly, we also visited a harbor where we spent some peaceful time. It was bliss!

An absolutely enchanting Waitomo Glowworm Caves, & Agrodome farm show in Rotorua

Suggested Read: 10 Fun Things To Do In New Zealand

A super exciting day for us – we did a lot of sightseeing in Auckland today.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves

This was the first place on our sightseeing in New Zealand list and we proceeded for it in the morning in a SIC shuttle. The views on the way were simply mesmerizing. By the time, we reached the caves, we were already in love with the countryside of New Zealand.

The Glowworm Caves experience was a surreal one. It was dark and when we saw the light from the glow worms on the roof and walls of the caves , we were blown away. The whole tour was on a boat which was also a unique experience. Truly, there was so much in the world to see apart from the usual mountains and all.

Tip: The glowworms are light sensitive and you won’t be allowed to click pictures. However once you’re outside the cave, there is provision for paid photography.

Agrodome Farm Show in Rotorua and Hot Springs

</iframe>”>Route

Agrodome was a unique farm experience for us where we saw the traditional dance of New Zealand and learnt about its culture, tribes, and history. It was a very nice experience and gave us quite a good intro of the country we were honeymooning in.

Next up, we saw the hot water springs and it was very fascinating. Since Auckland is built on dormant volcanic area, and there were hot springs all around, another thing that was famous apart from the above was the hot volcanic mud – also known as the Rotorua mud since it possessed medicinal properties.

Additionally, we also saw the national bird of New Zealand in Rotorua, Kiwi, and it was a very cute and gentle bird which was sleeping when we saw it.

Later, back in Auckland, before returning to our hotel, we also stopped by the Sky Tower, where we saw a majestic panoramic view of the whole city. Later on, we had our dinner at a restaurant in the same tower. Needless to say, it was amazing!

Tip: The temperature in Auckland is on a cooler side, wear a light pullover.

Exploring the surreal beauty of Bay of Islands

</iframe>”>Route

Today after breakfast, we proceeded towards Paihia to visit the Bay of Islands. The ride was a scenic just like our hotel – Scenic Hotel. After checking in, we freshened up, ate a burger, and then proceeded for the Bay of Islands tour.

Suggested Read: 10 Exotic Destinations For A Fairy-Tale Honeymoon In New Zealand

This was a wonderful tour and we even stopped at 3 – 4 islands out the total 9. The rest of islands were also seen from a pretty close distance. The tour also informed us about the specialties of each island and at one them, we even spotted seals. At another one, we stopped for a short hike, and were given two route options. We chose the one less traveled by and it made all the difference. Our hike to the top of structure built on a rock was amazing and we felt as if we were on top of the world.

Post the tour, we proceeded on for the “Hole in the Rock” or Piercy Island tour. And believe me when I say this, it was beautiful beyond imagination.

Hello Queenstown!

Honeymoon couple in Queenstown

Post breakfast this morning, we left for Auckland from Paihia to catch our flight to Queenstown. Upon our arrival in Auckland, we boarded our flight to Auckland and reached in approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Nature in Queenstown

We later checked into our hotel – Novotel which was a great property! Now that we were in South of New Zealand, I noticed what the difference between north and south was. While North was scenic, it was also more cosmopolitan than south. Whereas south was more into nature and scenic beauty!

Harsh and his wife sightseeing in Queenstown

In the evening once again, we ventured out on our own and dined at an Indian restaurant and ate the best thing ever – ice cream!

The Milford Sound Tour

</iframe>”>Route

In the morning post breakfast today, we got into the bus and proceeded for the Milford Sound tour. The journey took about 4 hours but it was a great one. We were particularly excited to visit this place since a lot of scenes from Harry Potter and The Lord Of The Rings have been shot here – and we soon realized why.

The cruise ride was breathtakingly beautiful and it also passed through a waterfall. We were given an option to purchase a raincoat for 11 dollars and go out and get wet – which we did and the experience was fantastic.

Post the tour, we returned to Queenstown and our rest of the evening was spent roaming the city on our own.

Note: The cruise was an hour long affair and also had provisions for food and drinks.

Shotover jet ride, Bungee Jumping & a Hot pool session

We did the Jet boat ride today and it was a mind blowing! Although initially scared, I soon got used to the twists and turns of the boat ride and had a time of my life doing it.

Next up was bungee jumping which I was too scared to do – but since it had been a childhood wish of my husband, he went for it (he was scared too!). Needless to say it was the most thrilling experience of his life and I too loved it when I saw how happy he was.

Note: You can get the video and photo of your jump but it is paid.

Next up was a place where we went for Hot pool session. The place overlooked the mountains and was perfect to rejuvenate and relax.

Post this, we returned to our hotel.

Hello Frank Joseph

This day we were transferred to Frank Joseph and we immediately liked this small city. It was at a beautiful location surrounded by mountains and had an air of coziness to it. Although not very populated, it thrived on tourism. Our rest of the day was spent at the hotel.

Adventure activities in Frank Josef

Helicopter ride in Frank josef
Harsh and his wife enjoy the helicopter ride to Frank Josef glacier

We did a Helicopter ride to the Frank Josef glacier today and it was a wonderful. The helicopter that we were in belonged to Bill Gates and was a piece of beauty. Once we had landed on the glacier, the pilot got down and clicked our pictures. Although we were allowed only 5 minutes here (due to extreme cold), it was still more than worth it.

Note: You will be properly equipped with all the safety equipment before you begin the ride.

Kayaking activity in new zealand

Later in the evening since we were free, we decided to go out for some adventure activities nearby.

We chose kayaking and quad biking. First was kayaking and it was great fun. Although it took us some time to adjust and synchronize our movement, pretty soon we were rowing around perfectly.

quad biking adventure in new zealand

Quad biking on the other hand was even more fun. We took the one where two could sit and although I tried driving it, I couldn’t for it was too heavy. Finally my husband took over and the ride began. And needless to say, we had an amazing time!

harsh and his wife pose for a photo in frank josef

Tip: Even though the terrain might be uneven, the quad bike won’t trip over but if it is going to, then don’t use your legs to protect yourself for it will be painful. Also, you will be given proper jackets and all to protect yourself from the dirt.

No trip to New Zealand is complete without a ride on the Tranzalpine train and that what we exactly did today. The train passed through tunnels, crossed fields, mountains and what not and it was our most scenic experience in New Zealand. There was also live narration about the points of interest happening with an option to ignore it if one wants.

Apart from this, there was an open deck like area also to see the scenery in a better manner.

Our train took us to Greymouth from where we were transferred to our hotel (Hotel Rendezvous) in Christchurch.

Spending last day in New Zealand doing sightseeing in Christchurch

Harsh and his wife visit the musuems in Christchurch

This was a free day for us and we decided to explore Christchurch on our own. We saw the tramps that the city had, and also visited a museum where we found out a lot of facts about New Zealand and also how it is an earthquake prone area.

In the evening, we checked out and proceeded for our flight back to India.

Sightseeing in Christchurch

Summing up our journey in few words, I would say it was more than fantastic in every way. Right from the incredible marvels of nature to the scenery to adventure, everything was super amazing. New Zealand was pristine, delightful, welcoming, and much more that words can describe. In the end, my husband and I had the time of our lives, and that is all that mattered!

Things we loved on the trip:

  • Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Agrodome and Rotorua
  • Adventure activities especially the Shotover jet ride
  • Helicopter ride, Quad biking, and Kayaking at Frank Josef
  • Tranzalpine train

Things that could have been better:

  • Some hotels asked for an advance that was way to much.

A Surreal 3 Night 4 Day Honeymoon In Udaipur And Mt Abu

“Udaipur & Mt. Abu were really refreshing for us! A mix of heritage, culture, & nature – our romantic escapade to Rajasthan was a surreal affair!”

My wife and I were initially planning to visit Kerala but since I was unable to take out time for such a long trip, we settled in for a honeymoon trip to Udaipur & Mt. Abu (as suggested by friends). TravelTriangle too, was recommended by a few friends and I am glad I took their advice since my booking experience with them was really good!

After understanding my travel requirements, a TravelTriangle representative connected me to various agents on board who sent us various quotes and itineraries. I chose the best one from “Roam” and was now all set for the trip. One more thing, the whole payment procedure was pretty smooth and assuring since they divided my amount in three installments and were even fine when a delay happened in one of them.

Here’s my Rajasthan trip details and itinerary:

Trip type: Honeymoon

Cost: INR 17,500

Inclusions: Hotel, Sightseeing, Breakfast, and Transfers

Exclusions: Other meals, activities not included in package

Day 1: Arrival in Udaipur – transfer to hotel and check in – sightseeing in Udaipur

Day 2: Breakfast at hotel – sightseeing in Udaipur via private cab

Day 4: Breakfast at hotel – sightseeing – hotel check out – transfer to Udaipur railway station

Sightseeing in Udaipur: Love at first sight!

We reached Udaipur early in the morning (by train from Delhi) and were welcomed by our driver who transferred us to our hotel – Tiger Hotel. The driver was a fine fellow and an excellent guide who kept on telling us various tidbits about the destination on our way to the hotel. After check in, the driver briefed us about the sightseeing in Udaipur that we would be doing today. He then left, giving us a full hour to rest before we began exploring the best places in Udaipur!

Places near Udaipur that we visited:

  • City Palace: This was a great experience and we loved its vibe since the weather was great. Boating here too was an awesome experience and was certainly the highlight of the day.
  • Jagdishwar Temple: Once again, a delightful architectural experience – this place had a very positive vibe around it and was also filled with foreign tourists!
  • Lake Pichola: In the evening, we visited the famous lake Pichola and sat their witnessing the sunset. It was a very romantic and pleasant experience that will forever be etched in our memories!

Post this, we had our dinner and then called it a night.

Day 2: Witnessing the marvels of Haldighati – Witnessing royalty and war stories!

Today we visited even more places in Udaipur. Since our driver had already briefed us about the day’s plan in the morning, we were timely done with our breakfast and left for sightseeing on time.

We visited the Haldighati pass which was around 40 km away from Udaipur and was full of interesting places to see.

Places near Haldighati that we visited:

  • Chetak Palace: This was a memorial for Chetak, the battle horse of Maharana Pratap in the war against Mughals. It is a 10 minute visit which takes you back to your history books! A fine tribute to the valiant animal that served the king so loyally!
  • Maharana Pratap Museum: This is a must visit museum for all. It is divided into sections and each section takes shows you the life and times of the great Rajput king! There are sound and light shows which make up for a great overall experience!
  • Sajjangarh Fort: Also known as Monsoon Palace, this was fort was built in the honour of the monsoons and offers great views of the aravali mountains. Watching the sunset here was a truly special and beautiful experience – not to forget, we were accompanied by monkeys too.
  • Saheliyon ki Bari: Also known as Garden of Maidens, this is a beautiful garden that is well maintained and full of beautiful flowers. The history behind it is magnificent!
  • Fateh Sagar Lake: Situated in Udaipur, our later part of the evening was spent here and it was truly calming. The lake situated between the hills offered us a splendid view and a romantic ambience.

Post our lake visit, we had our dinner and then retired for the night.

Day 3: A delightful experience in Mount Abu

Suggested Read: Rajasthan Trip: The Royal Twist To A Normal Tale

We were to go to Mt. Abu today for a 1 night stay and so post our breakfast in the morning, our driver picked us up and we left for the hill station. The road journey was a smooth one and on our way, we stopped to explore the Kumbhalgarh Fort. Again, an architectural delight, this fort took us back in time while we were there. Later, we continued our journey and reached Mt. Abu in the evening.

Our hotel here was again a nice one and had splendid views. After check in, we rested for half an hour and then proceeded onto visit Lake Nakki. This was a beautiful experience since the weather was perfect – not too cold, not too hot, and sitting here with my wife elevated the whole charm of the scene. Later on, we also visited a nearby temple, had dinner and then called it a night.

Day 4: Visiting the incredible temples in Mount Abu

We spent quite a lot of time today visiting temples in Mt. Abu. These included Guru Shikhar Temple and Dilwara temple which were both quite enjoyable to see. We also went to the Brahma Kumaris Ashram and felt a serene and positive vibe here.

It is worth noting that although, we did not have any guide with us, our driver knew everything about all the places and he was gracious enough to help us with our sightseeing in Mt. Abu and Udaipur both.

View of the hills from Mount Abu

By 2:30, we had visited all the best places in Mt. Abu and so we left to Udaipur to catch our train to Delhi. It took us 3 hours to reach – well in time for our train.

The trip had ended, but both the delightful places of Rajasthan had left an impact on us. Udaipur and Mt. Abu certainly showed us the royal charm of the past and the beauty of Rajasthan. Needless to say all these factors perfectly complemented our special holiday making it an experience that we shall remember forever!

Things we loved on our trip: Sajjangarh Fort, Nakki lake, Lake pichola, and the overall royal vibe of Rajasthan

Tips for travelers:

  • Mt. Abu is a must visit for all especially in Jan or 1st week of February since the weather during this time is amazing (neither too hot nor too cold).
  • Also Sajjangarh Fort is one offbeat fort that everyone should visit since it’s much better than the common attractions like Kumbhalgarh Fort.

Here’s How The Union Budget Will Affect Travelers In 2017!

After the demonetization drive, a lot was expected from the Union Budget in Feb 2017. Arun Jaitley created history by being the first man to present both the General and Railway Budget together. The budget brought forth many changes and a lot of talking points for travelers.

The demonetization process run by the Indian government came through with a lot of challenges for everyone. A shortage of cash flow certainly provided a lot of hurdles for travelers especially in remote locations where the idea of electronic transactions is still a concept of the future. Here’s how the new budget affects your travel plans for 2017 :

While I was still thinking about traveling over the weekend, I came across TravelTriangle on Facebook. As it was a long time plan to witness snow, I and my three other friends decided on Dalhousie for our weekend trip.

How It Began?

We did put in a query after reading a lot of good reviews on TT’s Facebook page. We received a good response post initiating a request and eventually booked our weekend trip to Dalhousie.

All girls trip to Dalhousie

This was our first trip with TravelTriangle and for the first time we were about to join a different group altogether. As excitement increased, we only hoped for the best and looked forward to the journey. On the night 25th January, we boarded our bus from Majnu ka Tila and started the journey by 7.30 pm.

As soon as we started out, one of the coordinators Prateek broke the ice and made sure everyone on the bus got to know each other and no one was bored. Since it was a long journey ahead, he engrossed everyone into playing games, dancing, singing and in no time, everyone was chattering and gossiping away.

Later we stopped for dinner at the Divine Restaurant and in the morning we reached Dalhousie by 6 am. As much as we were skeptical about going on an all girls journey, we were now sure that this trip was going to be an incredible one.

Finally, Dalhousie Happened!

It was our first day in Dalhousie. We checked into Satyam International hotel. The breathtaking views of snow-clad mountains from the hotel were totally mesmerizing. We quickly freshened up and started out by 10.30 am post breakfast.

We played in the snow and spent good 4 hours at Kalatop. It was already dark when we came back in the evening post which, we all had a sumptuous dinner at the hotel and called it a night.

Trek To Khajjiar

The second day was booked for our trek to Khajjiar and we started out by 9 am post breakfast. Living up to the tag of Mini Switzerland of India, it took us about 3 to 3.5 hours to reach Khajjiar.

Bonfire with friends

On top of it, the crystal clear night sky opened its wardrobe and millions of stars showed up. We couldn’t have asked for more. It was that beautiful. Soon everyone got talking, gossiping and dancing around the bonfire and it was indeed the best night of our trip.

Last Day In Dalhousie

On the third day, we checked out in the morning and proceeded for breakfast. The day was all chilled out and we moved at a slower pace compared to the past 2 days. We went for local sightseeing in Panch Pulla.

We also thrilled ourselves by taking part in ziplining and river crossing activities. Later we also visited a Shiva cafe near Satdhara Falls.
