Honeymoon Trip To Maldives: Mesmerized By The Lagoons, Love, & Luxury!

It’s natural to want all the love, luxury, and relaxation on a honeymoon trip and Debalina was right when she felt the same along with her husband, Aritro. With the recommendations given by one of her seniors and post reading some of the related blogs on TravelTriangle, she booked herself one of the best Maldives honeymoon tour packages and here’s what she wrote about her experience.

Journey With TravelTriangle

I got to know about TravelTriangle through Facebook and the process was so smooth and easy that I did not feel the need to browse for some other portals. We booked a 6 days and 5 nights honeymoon package and TT put us through various vendors of whom, Destynasia Holidays offered us the best quotes. Our flights, transfers, accommodation at Sun Island Resort, breakfast & dinner, water activities, shark feeding, visit to nature park and much more was all included in a budget of just INR 1,40,500.

Day 1: Unraveling Surprises Enroute Male

We boarded our flight from Bangalore by 2 pm and due to an unexpected delay we missed the flight to Sun Island from Male. Since the next flight to Sun Island was after 4 hours, the officials very courteously arranged a city tour of Male. We utilized that time to the fullest and explored all the historical places and shopped a lot of souvenirs from Male.

We finally reached the Sun Island resort via a ferry by 7:45 pm and checked into the beach bungalow. The locals eat dinner early by 7 and to our surprise they had packed the dinner for us. As we stepped inside the room we felt so elated to see the decorations along with exclusive spa offers for honeymooners. We felt very happy that we had got everything that we had paid for.

Day 2: Lavish Lifestyle And Luxury At Maldives

Our second day was completely dedicated to leisure. We finished our breakfast and went on to explore the enthralling property of Sun Island in Maldives. It’s a huge island and the beach is hardly a five-minute walk from the bungalow.

  • Indulgence In Pure Luxury

We went for a walk on the beach and relaxed as we soaked our feet in the white sandy beaches. Later we explored a nearby mall and I bought a traditional necklace made out of shark teeth which caught my attention instantly. Later we relished a sumptuous dinner at the hotel and retired for the day.

Day 3: Sheer Indulgence In Water Activities

The next morning we were transferred to the water villa post breakfast. We instantly fell in love with the entire landscape of the water villas. We were told to get ready as we had to leave for the water activities.

  • Water Villa Love

  • Snorkeling With Underwater Buddies

They took us to the center of the beach and in next ten minutes we were snorkeling amidst gorgeous coral reefs. It was just too mesmerizing to see the fishes all around us. We snorkeled for about two hours and we came back to the hotel in the evening. Overall snorkeling was indeed a nice experience and we called it a night post dinner.

Day 4: Shark Feeding, Spotting Sting Rays and Karaoke Night

We started out for the next day a little late in the morning. Breakfast in the water villa was really nice and included a lot of dishes for vegetarians as well. We went on to experience shark feeding in the afternoon. The sharks were small and harmless and it felt different to see how they were so habitual to being fed by the travelers.

  • The Sun, The Sky & The Sea!
  • Little Shark Babies
  • Time For Sting Ray Feeding

In the evening it was time to meet the sting rays. We waited till 6.25 pm and there were no sting rays. Suddenly in next five minutes all the sting rays gathered in an area where they are fed every evening. Later on a karaoke night was arranged along with the dinner and we really had a good time watching the local singers perform.

It was great to get spend some quality time together in such a picturesque landscape. We also visited the nature park nearby. In the night, the hotel officials arranged for a local fashion show for our entertainment along with dinner.

Day 6: When Departure Took Us By Surprise

It was a little upsetting to know that our flight had been preponed to 11 am from 2pm. Due to this we had to wake up early at 3 am and it was really tiring. Despite the time constraints, the hotel staff was very courteous and warm.

Hotel staff bidding adieu to guests

To our surprise they had prepared the breakfast for us so early. Not only that but they also held “see you soon” cards to bid farewell to us. It was really great and we soaked in the Maldivian memories as we set on our journey back to India.

Our Honeymoon Highlights:

  • It was love at first sight when my eyes met the water villas.
  • Snorkeling was enthralling indeed.
  • City tour of Male was an added delight.

Low Points (Not that low): Our flight getting delayed at Bangalore and again when the flight got preponed from Maldives.

Tips For Future Travelers:

  • Do not miss out on the amazing food at the Sun Island Resort.
  • Shop for local souvenirs as they cannot be easily found anywhere else.
  • Water activities add more thrill to the entire trip and experiencing snorkeling is a must.

Start the tour with varieties of chaats and desserts in Delhi. Move to Jaipur as it offers the delicious Rajasthani dishes like Laal Maas and Balushahi. Finally, drive to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and indulge in sinful cuisines like Mughlai chicken and Pethas to savor the best food India has to offer.

8. Arvind Kejriwal : A vacation to vibrant Gujarat

Feel the warm vibes of Gujarat

One of the most talked about personalities in India, Arvind Kejriwal’s hate for Modi Ji reached an all-time high when he informed the world through a video that Modi Ji is planning to get him assassinated.

So we would love to recommend Arvind Ji a trip to Gujarat. Destinations in Gujarat range from a visit to Gir National Park- for lion spotting, to a visit to the incredibly vast salt lands of Kutch. As the saying in Gujarat goes, “agar Kutch nahi dekha to kuchh nahi dekha”.

14. Arnab Goswami: The nation wants you to go…to Kerala!

A soothing break in God's own country

One of the most iconic(read loud) news presenters of our generation. Arnab Goswami created a niche for himself by presenting a feisty style of journalism/debating on his most watched TV news show in India. He ended his innings in 2016 as a news anchor on Times Now, we feel that this is an opportune time to send Arnab on a vacation to Kerala.

Having dwelled into the loud sombres of Indian society, a calming stay at an ayurvedic retreat with spa and therapy would be a perfect way to take the load off Arnab’s hyperactive mind.

15. George RR Martin: Peace and tranquility in Bhutan

Time to write a piece of history

His brainchild Game of Thrones reached dizzying heights in 2016. The success of the book adaption is unparalleled and unprecedented. For the first time we saw the TV series overtake the books. The loyal book fans have had a excruciatingly long wait for the sixth edition of the book.

Wouldn’t his legion of fans in India love to see him spread his charm in India all over again.

17. Dipa Karmakar: Discover stunning Australia

Brave dipa on another adventure to Australia

A break after an exhausting election

A hard fought election that left the Obama and Clinton pair heartbroken and dejected. They gave their all in trying to make Hillary win but in the end, the Trump Train denied USA their first female president.

We cordially invite the Obamas and Clintons to put up their feet and evaporate their disappointment in mystical Bali. The picturesque beaches in Kuta and Nusa Dua to the gorgeous temples of Tanah Lot and Taman Ayun heal one and all.

A devoted outspoken Arsenal and English cricket fan, a rambling yet impactful journalist, and a twitter celeb- Piers Morgan caught the eye of India when he stirred a storm by calling the Indian performance at Olympics “shameful”. He got a fair bit of stick on twitter for that.

We’d like to invite Piers on a family trip to India, see the struggles of being in a country of 1.2 billion people that recognizes 22 official languages, and the challenges the sports persons have to face in just to get to the grandest stage in the world.

Special Mentions:

20. Salman Khan: Vacation to Andaman with a Cellular Jail Tour

A family retreat to Andaman

You know how verdicts are. Sometimes they go your way, sometimes they don’t. For Salman, however, 2016 represented a lucky escape in a case pending on him. We’d suggest him to go on a trip to Andaman and have a closer look at the British Colonial style prison in Port Blair called Kala Paani aka Cellular Jail. A visit to what could’ve been and a chance to make peace with whatever demons left inside.

We’ve Only Just Begun!

Group of friends on an adventure

We took a bus from Majnu Ka Tila, a famous spot in Delhi in the evening around 8 pm and embarked on our journey. On our way, the driver stopped around midway and we had dinner at a local restaurant. As we continued our journey, I could see other travelers getting excited too. As we stopped for a tea break early in the morning, everyone started talking and sharing their excitement.

We reached at our homestay in Bir at about 11 am and quickly freshened up. After we had finished our breakfast, our trip coordinator Ankur surprised us with the news that we’ll have to do paragliding on first day itself.

When Our Hearts Sank In The Surprise!

Originally scheduled on the second day, the paragliding adventure was preponed to first day as the weather conditions were changing and chances of the second day getting worse for paragliding were high.

Finally we were there at the paragliding site and my heart beats got faster as others went running towards the edge. Their screams were a mixed emotion of fear and excitement.

Since I was the second one in my group, Ankur made sure I was clear with the instructions as I put on the paragliding gears. My wingman looked super cool whereas I was still a bit shaky.

Without giving it anymore thoughts we ran towards the edge and the next moment, the wind brushed through my skin, I was in the sky and that was the moment when I understood the real meaning of being on top of the world.
